How a Wireless Hidden Camera Spoiled Josh’s Party

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008
Larry Zolna

“It’s here” said Mrs. Wilson. Her Mantle Clock containing a Wireless Hidden Camera had arrived and she was very happy to have it.

“It looks great on the den mantle,” she told her husband. “Just don’t tell Josh that the clock is really a Wireless HIdden Camera,” said her husband. “We want it to be a surprise.”

Mr. and Mrs. Wilson were preparing for a weekend trip and, for the first time, would be leaving their son Josh home alone.

“Mom”, said Josh, “I’ll be OK alone. After all, I’m 17 now.” And then he said the words that all parents of teenagers hate to hear — “Don’t you trust me?”

Josh was a a good kid. He had a B+ average in school and was a starter on the football team. He also had lots of friends.

So, after a few dozen instructions, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson left for a great weekend.

When they returned on Sunday night everything seemed in order. After Josh went to bed, Mr. Wilson retrieved a tape from their VCR. After watching it he called Josh downstairs.

“Josh,” said his father, “I want you to look at this tape.”

After 2 minutes of watching, Josh, with tears in his eyes, was forced to admit that he had betrayed his parent’s trust by having a beer party. He thought he’d gotten away with it because everything was put back in place. He hadn’t been told that the new Mantle Clock in the den was really a Wireless Hidden Camera that recorded the entire party!

Even though we all think we have good kids, just as Josh was, remember that good kids are still vulnerable to trouble, especially if they are teenagers.

Parental awareness is crucial when raising kids. The situation above gave Josh and his parents an opportunity to work together to avoid future problems. The Mantle Clock Wireless Hidden Camera helped a family address a problem that otherwise might have gone unnoticed.

Do you have a problem that could be helped by a Mantle Clock Wireless Hidden Camera? If so, please visit our website to see the Mantle Clock as well as a large assortment of other Wireless Hidden Cameras that will fit your need:  http://www.feelsafeandsecure.com/pro1221251.html  and Don’t Be the Next Victim!

What Will I Do With a Hidden Camera. Do I Really Need One and What For?

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008
Donna Biasi

Do you currently feel the need for a hidden Camera?

What are you going to use it for?

Are you sure you know what to buy?

First thing you need to do is decided what you need it for.

Business Owners, Law Enforcement and Parents have taken a very big interest in Hidden Cameras. To keep on eye on theft from employees, parents are buying nanny cameras to protect their child from the babysitter, and Police to catch the criminals in the act.

Security is important in your home. Is someone inside your home that you think is stealing things from you? Some times we get a gut feeling that someone moved something in our home. You know you put your favorite earrings in your jewelry box two days ago but you went to look for them today and they are gone.

Remember they always say Go with your Gut feeling.

Keeping an eye on the babysitter- Does your child say Mom I don’t like the babysitter she is mean, or she is always on the phone and when I ask for something to eat she tells me later. Listen to your child as much as we don’t like to admit it sometimes we really need to listen.

Know when you kids are home and what they are doing. If you are a working family and most of are, your kids are home alone after school. You just might want to know what is going on when your not their. It may not be your kids but the friends they have over even though you told then No friends when your not their. Sometimes they forget.

Are you having trouble in you neighborhood someone is smashing car windows at night and you know who it is but, when you went to the parents they said NOT my child. You really what to catch them on tape so you can take then to court, and will be able to play the video as evidences

Do you own a business and what to check on your inventory? Your cost on supplies is going up each week but you know you bought the supplies last week. Where are they?

Do you feel the need to check on your husband? Where is he going, and with whom.

Make sure you are ready to handle the answer.

Now the question is:

• How do they work -a small security board is built into an every day items no one will ever know it is a video recorder.

• Where will I place the Hidden Camera-look around the home what are you looking to find out. Is it dark or light? Inside or outside.

• Wired or wireless a wired VCR or DVD has a video cable that records to the device.

• A wireless is a built in transmitter and will send signals to the recording device.

Different types of Security Cameras for your investment are below. Make sure you check with your local enforcement before you get a camera. The last thing you want to do is have the information you need to take to court and the law tells you it is not allowed in the court room. Or it is unlawful to place a hidden camera. Find out first.

Nanny Cameras

Hidden Cameras

Dummy Clammy Cameras

Professional Cameras

Dome Cameras

Wired

Wireless

Black & White or Color

There is so much information you need to know about hidden cameras. One of the most informant things is that what ever you find out makes sure you are ready for the answer. If you don’t plan to do anything then I suggest you do not own a hidden camera.

Mastering The Art Of Effective Bug Reporting

Friday, November 14th, 2008

All software testers strive to achieve the prime aim of hunting maximum number of bugs in the software. When some build gets ready for testing, the main aim of the tester is to dig out maximum possible bugs from each & every corner. To achieve perfection in this task testing is performed from different angles. The application is subjected to the rigors of the following type:

# Boundary value analysis

# Validation Testing

# Verification Testing

# GUI Testing

# Interoperability Testing

# Integration Testing

# Functional Testing - from Business concept Point of view

# Backend Testing

# Security Testing etc.

With such activities tester needs to go into ample depth of the software application taking care of the prime requirements of the business.

It is a known fact that mere awareness about the Bug is insignificant unless it is backed by a proper set of documentation. This gives rise to the need of “Bug Reports”. These bug reports form the primary work output of a tester. Bug reports is an important object frequently viewed even by the persons other than the testing team. Such Bug Reports play an extremely crucial role in various phases of the SDLC. These Bug Reports are frequently used by the testing engineers, code developers, project managers and finally by the clients as well. The clients are becoming quite demanding these days & demand the test / bug reports. Hence the Bug Reports are of great significance & are referred several times by all concerned.

After the testers test the software & report the bugs to the team of developers, who need to work on the same, some sort of unpleasantness is bound to arise. This is because, no-one relishes his mistakes being told. Testers usually come across some sort of humiliation & cold wars like situations develop. The peculiar situation arises when both testers as well the developer mean to say a particular thing in the same way & both may be right from their point of view, however confrontation may arise due to difference of projection of their view point. Thus we can say that key attribute of a best tester is his ability to find large number of bugs as well as his ability to get the maximum number of bugs fixed in his application.

Reporting of Bugs in an effective way is an Art:

Bug Report provides an effective feel of the failure to the developers. A good Bug Report is the one, which is prepared with so much clarity that developers would feel a sense of pleasure in fixing the bugs. However poorly written bug reports are likely to backfire from the development team with comments like - it is not a bug and It cannot be reproduced. Likewise there can be numerous comments of similar nature.

Thus an intelligent tester understands the great importance of his “Bug Report” & prepares an unquestionable Bug Report to the best of his ability & utmost clarity to avoid any type of controversy at any stage.

Important Elements of a Bug Report:

For an effective communication with the code developers, following information pertaining to the Bug needs to be captured & be clearly conveyed in the Bug Report. Such information is of great help to the developers in understanding the Bug, get an idea of the severity of the Bug & he should be able to reproduce the Bug if need be.

As a matter of two way communication, the developer is equally expected to describe the cause of the problem / Bug, steps taken to fix the Bug / Fix description, steps taken to verify the fix and all information helpful in preventing occurrences of such Bugs in the future.

Bug ID : A unique number for the identification of the bug.

Bug State: During the Life Cycle of the Bug, it passes across various states before getting closed (as described in the Article “Know All about States of Bug during Life Cycle”). The present state of the Bug like New Bug, Assigned Bug, Fixed Bug, Closed Bug etc. is an essential part of the Bug Report.

Details of Application: Like application name, version, URL, details of database if any etc.

Component or Sub-component: referring to the part of the application where the bug was detected by the tester

Details of the Environment: Like Name of the Operating System details of the Hardware platform etc.

Bug Severity / Criticality Level: Like Critical / Major / Average or Minor

Bug Priority: When many bugs with similar severity are present in the system, priorities can be assigned to such bugs according to which these bugs shall be fixed.

Test Case ID: A unique number / Name for the identification of the Test case.

Title / Subject of the Bug: A brief / may be one line description of the bug

Bug Description: A detailed description of the bug.

Steps to Reproduce: A step by step explanation of method to reproduce the bug.

Details of Input Data: A detailed description of the input data, based upon which bug had been detected.

Additional information: Like Screen Shots, Error Messages, Log files if any etc. are extremely helpful in finding the cause of the problem & arriving at a solution to fix it.

Details of the Tester: Details Like a) Name b) Contact information etc.

Bug Event Details: Details like the Date & Time at which Bug had been reported

Bug Assignment Details: Details like the name of the developer to which the bug has been assigned.

Cause of the Problem: A detailed description of the causes leading to the problem

Solution / Fix: A detailed explanation of the steps undertaken to fix the problem.

Problem Area: Identification of the Code section / file / module / class where the fix was done, including the details of method used to fix the problem.

Version Details: Details like the Date of Fix, Version of the file which contains the concerned fix

Fighting Bed Bugs - Various Ways Of Eradicating Them

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008
Abhishek Agarwal

In the 1930’s there was widespread infestation of bed bugs in the USA especially in the hotels. Just after the World War II, The United States has won the war over these tiny little pests. They used the DDT, a chemical pesticide which was so potent for the bed bugs that nearly annihilated them. The specie continued to grow in other parts of the Globe like Europe, Asia and Africa. However in the 60’s it was determined that DDT has harmful effects to humans and its environment so it was banned. The bed bugs came back through human migration and tourism from different nations. The Hotels were most affected and the homes of most citizens again.

They came when the most effective weapon against them was gone. So people, businessmen in real estates and hotels are affected. Not to mention the millions of people who obtains bites, scratches, scars and skin infection.

Literally there is bloodshed in this war with the bugs. Since they thrive in human blood, there have been fears that they could trigger an epidemic of diseases like hepatitis and the plague. Further studies however showed that the fear was unfounded.

These pests like their adversary (who appear as their victims than predators) have cunning ways to wage their campaign against humanity. As nocturnal animals, they sleep during the day and attack at night when the enemy least expects it. So shrewd that they don’t do it the whole night but they pick the time when most people are in deep sleep and dreaming which is about an hour before dawn.

To top it all, they carry with them war apparatus designed like sophisticated chemical weaponries. Their mouth has two elongated tubes intended in piercing the human skin. One is for injecting counter defensive substance; the other is a vacuum needle which sucks the blood out. The substance it delivers works as an anesthetic and coagulant. The former is for preventing blood from clotting and keeps it flowing thru the other tube. The anesthesia is intended to make the operation site numb while the bug is at work and the host keeps on dreaming.

The operation lasts for only about a few minutes. The timing is so perfect, that ensures attack to be efficiently productive. An hour before dawn is the time when the victim is fast asleep but it is also perfect timing because the anesthesia lasts only for about an hour after they fed. When the numbness wears out, the itching and scratching begin but it is already morning. When the enemy wakes up, the bed bugs are already back in their barracks. The poor victim doesn’t even know and may just suspect the aggressors are mosquitoes and may not even try to look for them. So the cycle of invasion continues.

Given that these bugs have the advantage of such sophisticated offensive mechanism granted by the Creator, their intelligence may not compare to that of the human brain which God have also provided. The human brain contains talents of different professions, of Professors, PhDs, Scientists, Engineers and Technicians that have joined team efforts to combat the threat of the Bug War.

So the other side of the camp plans and invents solution in terms of Detection, Entrapment, Elimination and Prevention from recurring. Imagine the years of research and the creative talents needed to counter the seemingly mindless bed bugs.

The human warfare against the bed bugs

After so much study of trials and errors, it was determined that there is no more as effective as that of the banned DDT. Therefore, the human side has to contend with the best solution available which takes careful planning and swift implementation to make them effective.

War is declared when there are numbers of incidents of atrocities of bug bites on family members or hotel guests who file legal complaints against hotel managements. So threat of invasion is no longer a question of existence. The bugs have already declared war. It is the human turn now to respond. First they need to detect location of the enemies. Then find the best weapon to counter attack.

Since bugs have been identified to operate at near dawn time frame, it is best to wake up one early morning and with the aid of a flashlight carefully look under the mattresses, floor crevices, beddings, carpets, curtains and cabinets. When the secret hideouts are identified, its time to implement the offensive.

Two methods of counter offensive were identified: The Chemical Treatment and the Non-chemical Treatment.

Chemical Warfare

Chemical method is best applied by hired mercenaries the pest control professionals. Their tools and materials are best in reaching hard to reach tight places in homes and hotels. The chemicals used are the inorganic diatomaceous earth and the silica aerogel. They are desiccants applied in hard to reach tight places which inflict entrapment and dehydration for the bugs and provide long term effectiveness. The chemicals are safe for humans and domestic animals. To prevent other possible hideouts, Pyrethroids insect repellants are applied into crevices to prevent bed bugs from creeping into them.

Non-chemical Warfare

Non Chemical treatments can be done by homeowners themselves. Basically, they are keeping the homes clean and free of clutters: Vacuum cleaning of mattresses, furnitures, beddings and other area where bed bugs could possibly hold camp. Steam cleaning and hot drying of carpets, upholstery, curtains and beddings.

Choosing the Right Hidden Camera or Spy Camera

Sunday, November 9th, 2008
Scott Young

Not sure what kind of hidden camera that you need? Hopefully this article will help.

Monitoring a room using video capturing equipment is fairly easy. There is a wide variety of equipment on the market to accomplish this. Listed below are some of the different types of equipment used to covertly capture video.

Miniature Wireless cameras

Hidden wireless cameras

Hidden IP cameras

Miniature Hard wired cameras

Hidden hard wired cameras

Motion activated all-in-one recording systems

Motion activated still shot cameras

Miniature Wireless cameras

Miniature Wireless cameras can be a suitable choice given the right situation. A mini wireless camera will need power to operate the camera, whether it is battery or plugged directly into the wall. Most mini wireless cameras will run on a standard 9 volt battery. The battery will last between 4 and 8 hours depending both on the battery that you choose and the camera specifications. I generally recommend plugging it into the wall when possible.

Some other considerations are where to conceal the camera and where/ what to record on or view the camera on. The camera could be easily hidden in a plant or you could build something to conceal the camera. Most mini wireless cameras have a pin hole lens so you can easily hide them in a box or possibly in a book or anything else that you can think of. You could even set the camera inside of an air vent looking out. Recording is probably the biggest obstacle. The receiver can be plugged into a TV for viewing live. However, If you cannot sit and watch all the time there is a good chance that you will miss all the action. You could also plug the receiver into a VCR to record onto a VHS tape. The problem there is that you have to find a place to hide the VCR and you can only record as long as the VHS tape will allow. For example, you start recording at eight o’clock in the morning when you leave for work. Your partner is due home at Two o’clock. If your tape will only hold six hours you are going to miss what you were trying get catch on tape. You could also you a digital video recorder with motion activation. This is probably a better choice, but still has problems. A Motion activated recorder works great with a hard wired camera, but has problems when it comes to wireless cameras. The way a motion activated DVR works is that it can sense the pixelation change coming through the camera when something moves and knows to record. All wireless cameras have interference. There is nothing you can do about it. It’s just the nature of the beast. When the DVR senses the change in pixels caused by interference it thinks it is motion and ends up recording almost all of the time.

There are better options that I will cover in the paragraphs to follow.

Hidden wireless cameras

Hidden wireless cameras, also know as a nanny cam, makes things a little easier because the camera comes pre hidden. You can get wireless cameras built into just about any thing you can imagine from televisions to air fresheners. While these cameras do make it easier you will still have the same concerns with recording as you would with a standard wireless camera.

Hard wired miniature cameras

Hard wired miniature cameras are definitely more reliable than wireless but still pose some problems. As with the wireless camera you still have to hide the camera and find a way to record or view the camera. The main problem with the hard wired camera is that you have to run a cable from the camera to the recording device. In some situations this may not be a problem, but in most situations it is not practical.

Recording is easier with a hard wired camera because you can use a motion activated DVR effectively. For instance in the example given for wireless cameras you could start recording when you leave for work and the motion activated DVR would not record anything until it saw movement in the cameras range. Most motion activated DVRs can be adjusted to record for a very long time. Pre hidden hard wired cameras can also be purchased.

Hidden IP cameras

Hidden IP cameras are similar to a hidden wireless camera in that they come pre concealed inside of many everyday items and they are also wireless. That is where the similarity ends. With an IP camera the video signal is sent through the electrical system of the house. The receiver is then plugged into a wall outlet near your computer and connected to a USB port on your computer. Using the software that comes with the system you can then view and record the images on your computer. An IP camera will also enable you to view your camera from anywhere in the world with internet access as long as the computer with camera connected to it is also connected to the computer.

The one drawback to an IP camera is that the software is not hidden on the computer. So, if your partner sees the software on the computer you may have some explaining to do.

Hidden still shot cameras

Hidden still shot cameras may be a good option depending on the circumstances. One of the best brands that I have found is the Home Guard. It is motion activated and records pictures at an adjustable frame rate when it senses motion. You can adjust the frame rate from one picture every second when motion is detected to ten pictures every second. I normally suggest setting it to take one picture every second.

There are no wires or cables, it records onto an internal chip and saves the images for future viewing. The Home Guard looks like an air freshener so it will “fit in” in any environment. Most of my clients that use the home Guard will take a sticker off of another air freshener product such as Glade or Air Fresh and place it on the home guard to make it more believable.

Motion activated all-in-one hidden camera

Motion activated all-in-one hidden camera/recording systems are my hidden camera of choice. They come in a very large selection of products making it easy to select one that will work in almost any situation.

These devices are totally self contained. They can be easily deployed and take away all of the worries that you may have with other choices that you may be considering to capture video.

The all-in-one units are motion activated and require no cables, receivers or external recording devices. Simply place the device where you want it and let it go to work. You can then view the video that it recorded right off of the unit itself or remove the SD card and view the video on a computer.

This is by far the easiest and most reliable of the options available to secretly capture video.
