As is understood, partition assistant finds use in managing the hard disk of our computer. We know it helps us to create, increase and resize partition. But the operate to be followed to do so shall be discussed here.

Also at the very outset, one must be able to distinguish Partition Assistant from the built-in disk manager that you have in Windows. This disk management snap-in does not offer resize, reduce or extend partition features. Hence, there is need of third party utility, like Partition Assistant.

You need to keep in mind that the total data storage space of a computer’s hard drive is divided into maximum four, and minimum one, primary partitions.

The primary partitions have a 16-byte entry code which forms Partition Table situated in the master boot record.

Out of the four, only one can be an expand drive provider. An extend partition is nothing but a primary partition which has secondary partition(s). A hard disk cannot have more than one extend drive; though it can be subdivided into logical partitions.
