Exactly what do investigative reporters (like the one from MSNBC and other news channels) are able to go undercover and use hidden cameras whenever they go to places like restaurants, clubs, on the street, etc.?

Cameras can be hidden in packages, briefcases, and in some cases clothing.
Where to hide them is only limited by the imagination.

A hidden camera is nothing more than a board camera “hidden” inside anything you can imagine from a mirror to a backpack. It is small enough it can go inside just about anything.
They could have bought some or more likely made their own which is relatively easy to do.
