What are the ethical and legal implications of an employer who has installed ‘spy’ cameras?

landlocked
throughout the business, and then views the activity on his PC?? At this point only a couple of people are aware they have been installed, they were installed after money continued to disappear from some sort of desk lock box. Aside from the fact the employer fails to adequately secure the money, I am wondering what the implications of the situation are.

If it isn’t in the bathroom or positioned in a way to see up your dress or something, then the employer is within their rights.

depends on the state, but generally as long as noting private such as clothes changing or bathroom use, it’s legal.

I doubt there would be any laws against it providing they weren’t installed in the toilets or dress rooms etc.

So again it depends on the state. In california they can video but not record audio.
Basically a business has the right to protect it’s interest. The computer, the phone, the walkways are their property, and they have the right to control it.
None of this is private especially your emial.
Email is public! Trust me it can be used it court against you.

Almost every business in America has “spy” Security cameras!
As for securing cash, if “all” employees are honest, security of money would not be an issue!
